Apart from what seem to be an ever increasing number of wildfires which contribute to atmospheric pollution, most of the air pollution is caused directly by human activity.

And although it remains a point of much scientific conjecture, increased levels of carbon dioxide gas in the atmosphere do seem to be associated with our currently changing climate.

Air pollution would appear to be with us for a considerable time with all of its inevitable consequences, including its effect on all creatures living on planet Earth. There are a few methods which can be introduced to prevent further air pollution on an individual basis, but realistically, to reduce the amount of pollution still currently ongoing, requires strong international governmental leadership.

Preventing Air Pollution.

  1. Pollutant gases are released from the exhaust systems of the tremendous number of motor cars in daily use. The number of cars on the roads can be reduced if people having a common destination would band together and form car pools. Or perhaps traveling by public transport would be an alternative to using the car.

  1. Avoid burning dried leaves or grass cuttings from the garden; along with organic kitchen waste they can make an excellent compost heap. This will obviate the need to buy artificial fertilizer for your garden and reduce the risk of polluting water supplies caused by water run off from this artificial product.

  1. Power stations used for the generation of electricity emit carbon dioxide gas which adds to air pollution. Try alternative methods of providing electricity for your needs. Solar panels are readily available for providing hot water, and the voltaic type supply electricity.
